A world famous fortune teller has stunned economic experts by staring into the financial future of the UK and declaring: "Wigan has the plan!"
The mysterious crystal ball gazer, known as Zoltar, has delivered his much-awaited forecast on the economic future of Britain as the nation waits desperately for reassurance amid post-Brexit economic uncertainty.
Zoltar's first prediction led to panic when he described a frighteningly dystopic broken society - but calm returned when he realised he was staring into his wrong crystal ball.
His second reading was inspiring, uplifting and optimistic about the future - thanks to one spirited borough in North West England - Wigan.
He said: ‘Wigan will lead the way, Wigan has the plan and if Great Britain wishes to succeed, it would do well to watch and learn from this great borough.
"What’s true about Wigan can be true about all of us. Wigan has the plan. Invest in Wigan."
This surreal scenario is the plot of the latest creative video to market Wigan as a destination for business investment.
The Wigan Works campaign, backed by Wigan Council, has a successful track record for delivering humorous and inventive campaigns which set Wigan apart from the pack when it comes to attracting business investment.
Its Hyperbrain video (external link) released earlier this year was a viral smash securing more than 250,000 YouTube views and was described as "genius" by creative reviewers.
The latest Zoltar video has been released to coincide with Wigan's presence at MIPIM and will help sell the attributes of the borough as an investment destination to major developers and investors at the nation's biggest property event.
Wigan Borough is the second largest council in Greater Manchester and includes the towns of Wigan, Leigh, Ashton-in-Makerfield and Tyldesley.
There are more than 320,000 people in Wigan Borough and its population is growing.
The Wigan Works campaign aims to bring investment, jobs and greater prosperity to the borough.
Councillor David Molyneux, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “While our Zoltar video is tongue-in-cheek, our team at Wigan Council are deadly serious when it comes to attracting business to Wigan Borough.
“Wigan is open for business and our Wigan Works campaign shows we are very business-minded. We have a top class workforce ready to fulfil the new opportunities coming our way.”
Councillor Molyneux said that while Zoltar may be fictitious Wigan really does have "the plan" with a new detailed investment framework to support inward investment and encourage new businesses who are choosing Wigan as their new base.
He said: “Wigan is a prime location for access to the North of England for logistics and distribution as the new Poundland and Nice-Pak investments show.
“We also have a wide range of employment sites available now for businesses to relocate to or to help them expand.
"Our Investment Framework is a clear plan to show businesses we are very serious about supporting their ambitions and helping them succeed.
“On top of that we have a proactive and supportive business team who are ready to help businesses with expert advice. We also have a willing and plentiful workforce, excellent local primary and secondary schools and beautiful countryside.
“It’s clear why Wigan is an attractive place to invest, work and live. Zoltar is right - Wigan has the plan!”
